PVDF Film

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) films are chemically resistant with high dielectric strength. This film is useful when a durable coating is needed on a project that will be exposed to the elements, as it helps maintain resistance to weathering, fading, and damage from UV rays. It also has the distinct property of being chemically inert, meaning it does not contaminate or affect the materials it does come into contact with. This inertness is especially important in applications such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, and medical devices, where it is critical to maintain complete product purity to ensure safety.

Our Parkinson Technologies Marshall and Williams biaxial orientation line of machinery produces strong films from this PVDF material that are often utilized in the production of solar panels and other outdoor architecture requiring this additional protective layer. The biax orientation works to improve the mechanical and barrier properties of the PVDF film by stretching it in both the machine direction orientation (MDO) and transverse direction orientation (TDO). The PVD film can then be wound into rolls through our Parkinson Winders brand of winding systems to ensure uniformity in the film before it is used in conjunction with a final product.
