Plastics Processing Technician

We are actively recruiting an individual with mechanical and communications skills for a position as a Plastics Processing Technician. The successful candidate works in a team to assist customers in conducting plastic processing trials at our state-of-the-art plastics orientation laboratory.

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Setup and configure pilot line machinery and related equipment for specific trials
  • Operate the plastics extrusion, stretching, and winding machinery and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Work closely with customers to demonstrate and optimize processing parameters of the machinery and equipment to help them achieve their specific trial goals
  • Monitor status of machinery and equipment during runs, and react as required to minimize process disruptions
  • Take measurements/readings and record appropriate operating data during each run
  • Assist in ensuring that required facility supplies and customer materials are available when needed
  • Assist in coordinating receipt, unpacking/repacking, and shipment of customer materials
  • Perform maintenance on the machinery and equipment as directed
  • Work closely with management to assist sales personnel in establishing specifications for machinery required to meet customer needs
  • Provide feedback of information learned from customers, such as timing of possible orders, specific questions and/or concerns, competitive information, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (career college or vocational/technical school preferred)
  • Mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn on the job
  • General computer literacy
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Good communication skills

Mechanical Design Engineer

We are actively recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of large scale capital equipment.

Requirements:

  • BSME or higher degree
  • Experience drafting/designing industrial equipment is a must
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks
  • Ability to manage a number of capital projects from conceptualization to completion, including the design of mechanical and structural systems according to customer specification
  • Ability to learn new engineering design practices quickly while retaining information precisely
  • Outstanding organizational ability, efficiency in job approach, diligence, and self-motivation
  • Capacity to take full ownership of work, from wide-ranging customer interactions to the smallest design elements
  • Responsible and accountable for handling technical, scheduling, and budgetary challenges
  • Demonstrated continued professional development

Preferred:

  • Experience with web-handling or converting equipment will be given priority
  • PLC programming familiarity a plus
  • Competency with pneumatic and hydraulic design
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus

Inside Technical Sales Representative

We have an immediate opening for an Inside Technical Sales Representative based at Parkinson’s headquarters in Woonsocket, RI. 

Responsibilities

  • Qualify inbound sales leads through direct customer contact
  • Translate customer needs into specification requirements that can be acted on by applications engineering
  • Work with the commercial team to develop and implement outbound lead generation strategies and proactively drive lead generation results
  • Develop value-added working relationships with customers
  • Participate in product development and marketing activities

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated MS Office proficiency (sales CRM programs a plus)
  • Excellent communication, planning and follow-up skills
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering, technical support or inside technical sales experience, preferably with engineered industrial/consumer products and/or technical services

Electrical Controls Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of electrical control systems for complex equipment.  Designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software internally or with our clients. Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 5-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within web handling and/ or material converting field. Performs a variety of tasks within the electrical controls engineering department. Works under general supervision; reports to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required in an open environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design control systems using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA Systems and variable-speed drives
  • Allen Bradley and Siemens knowledge preferred
  • Configure PLC code, HMI screens, and VFD/ Servo parameters
  • Perform functional test of machinery
  • On-site start-up support as needed
  • Domestic travel can be at least 20%.

Qualifications:

  • BSET or BSEE degree.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, and VFD/ Servo drives
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and TEAMS
  • Ability to interface effectively with people on all levels
  • Strong work ethic
  • 7+  years of experience preferred

Additional Considerations:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens drives and controls
  • Understanding of web handling applications (plastic processing, winding, etc)
  • Understanding of AutoCAD electrical

Industrial Spray Painter

Responsibilities:

Sprays surfaces of machines and manufactured products with protective or decorative material, such as paint, rust preventative or lacquer, using a spray gun. Cleans grease and dirt from product, using materials, such as lacquer thinner, turpentine, soap, and water. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface. Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications, using paddle or mechanical mixer. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose, using wrenches. Adjusts sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting technique. Directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer, using brush. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.  May use acid, wire brush, or steel wool to remove rust from metal. All other duties as assigned by management.

  • Ability to interface with people on all levels.
  • Strong work ethic

Additional Considerations:

  • Familiar with cranes and hositing equipment.
  • Licensed to operate Fork Trucks.

Field Service Engineer

Parkinson has an immediate opening for a Field Service Engineer.  The individual will report to the Direct of Customer Support and be responsible for Electro-Mechanical installations and field support of our custom-designed equipment. If you enjoy learning about and making industrial machinery perform, and like to travel to installation locations worldwide, then this is an ideal opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, Start-up and Commissioning of complex web handling and plastics processing machinery.
  • Supervision of mill wright and rigging crews on customer sites.
  • Hands on work in assembly, troubleshooting and testing machinery and implementing electro-mechanical field modifications, if required.                             
  • Ensure that our equipment meets all customer requirements.
  • Interface with customers.
  • Travel both domestic and internationally (at least 50%)

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in the Electro-Mechanical field or relevant technical experience.
  • Some understanding of web handling, winding and/or continuous processing plastics equipment.
  • Basic understanding of PLC and AC drive control systems.
  • Creative problem solving ability.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lead teams of various disciplines in the field towards complete projects.

Machinist

Parkinson Technologies, Inc. has immediate openings for a Machinist. The selected individual will report to the Production Manager, and be responsible for the production of machined parts for our large scaled machinery in a job shop environment.

Machinists Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to set up, Haas and CNC Knee Mill.
  • Must have a basic understanding of CNC Programming and the ability to make edits.
  • Must have experience with machining to tight tolerances.
  • Use and read precision measuring instruments to inspect and qualify parts throughout the machining process. 
  • The Machinist will also be responsible for keeping their area clean as well as all performing daily maintenance requirements on assigned machine.
  • Must also be willing to work overtime daily as well as Saturdays, when requested.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate. Trade school a Plus
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with people on all levels.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Proven programming experience
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory, procedures, and shop mathematics

  • Manual and CNC lathe Haas and Mori Seiki
  • Familiar with cranes and hoisting equipment.
  • Experience operating Fork Trucks.
